NEW MOON CEREMONY

NEW MOON CEREMONY: This is the time when the moon’s energy is the strongest. It is considered an ideal time to start up a new endeavor, to begin our most honest spiritual adventure. Here is a ceremonial plan to follow. What you’ll need: Paper and pen A glass of water Two small tumbled crystals of your choice A shiny coin (you can use a couple if you like!)   What to do: Clear your Energy to get centered. Take a salt bath or space clear your energy with sage, a feather or a flame. Set Your Intentions. On a new moon, it’s always a good idea to write down your intentions for the upcoming month and ask the universe for assistance in realizing them. Sit in reflection, and then write down what…

Love Yo’ Self Written by Ferrah Seifert  wwww.ferrahchino.com @Ferrahchinoyoga  “Because one believes in oneself, one doesn’t try to convince others. Because one is content with oneself, one doesn’t need others’ approval. Because one accepts oneself, the whole world accepts him or her.” – Lao Tzu To be honest, self-acceptance doesn’t always come easy for me. I grew up in an 80% white school, where I was not the typical blonde that received a ton of attention. Since this was pre J-Lo and Kim K, I constantly questioned my appeal as a woman with darker features. I can recall entering Jr. High with five horribly expensive Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch shirts that I would wear on each day of the week. I was constantly seeking approval from outside sources hoping that…

SIMPLIFYING LIFE LAYER BY LAYER

The grounding that yoga brings serves us as a simplifying force in order to stabilize our minds. When grounded, we plug back into our best selves and become fully present and balanced. Our energy stabilizes. Once centered, we are able to clearly see the circumstances of our lives. We no longer over-respond or over-worry because the static noise of chaos doesn’t pull us apart. “Worry is like a rocking chair. It will give you something to do but won’t get you very far.” -Proverb Simplify. Be Inspired. Love Yourself. Love your Day. Love your Life. That’s my mission. The hardest part has turned out to be the first one, simplifying. Life naturally seems to be about addition and society pushes us to do more and more. Honestly, it feels highly…

Three Reasons Why Yoga Teacher Training Changes Your Life

1.  TRANSFORMATION HAPPENS FASTER Something extraordinary happens while in a yoga teacher training program that breaks the bonds of ordinary awareness and expands the consciousness of each individual to a level that would otherwise would have taken years of ordinary living to attain.  This acceleration of evolution is mystical, meaning that the explanation of the change is beyond logic and reason.  The term from quantum physics,“quantum leap”, comes to mind.  A quantum leap means “a phenomena where an electron orbiting the nucleus of an atom changes its position without having traversed the space between its old and new orbit and without taking any time to do so.  As scientifically verifiable as this phenomenonis, it is also on the order of a miracle, for science has no explanation how this effect happens.”   This…

What habits are you strengthening?

We all form habits as we go through life. Yoga teaches us that even our good habits keep us from growing spiritually. This is because habits are by definition an attachment to a pattern of behavior, or a form of dependence. So a key principle of yoga is to break our both our mental and physical attachments. This includes not just our attachments to material objects (like needing chocolate to be happy), but also attachments to only seeing things in one way or repeating the same thoughts over and over expecting a different result, which by the way is the textbook definition of insanity. Yoga gives us a chance to examine our behavioral patterns and realize that our habits, even the good ones, keep us stuck. Only then can we…

Complaint Free Diet

We have no more right to put our discordant states of mind into the lives of those around us and rob them of their sunshine and brightness than we have to enter their houses and steal their silverware. – Julia Moss Seton When we complain we draw negative things to us because we’re putting out negative energy. Therefore one of the most important healthy habits we can learn is not to complain. Strip your mental diet of complaining and see for yourself the difference it makes! What is a Complaint? Criticism Groan Moan Gripe Whine Gossip Hostility To express dissatisfaction or resentment.  Top Reasons to Go Complaint-Free Starting Today: 1 – When you’re complaint-free, you learn to find solutions rather than staying stuck in the problem. Do you adore yourself?

Your Daily #HappinessRx: Please bring your palms together in namaste and with an inward focus toward our own hearts breath deeply. As you close your eyes you turn into the darkness to see that inner light within the untouched place known as maja. It is a place unblemished by sadness or meanness or anger. It is the seat of wisdom known as our spiritual heart. The yogis believe that each of us replicates the world at large, embodying “rivers, seas, mountains, fields…stars and planets…the sun and moon” (Shiva Samhita, II.1-3). The outer sun, they asserted, is in reality a token of our own “inner sun,” which corresponds to our subtle, or spiritual, heart. So, when we practice Surya Namaskar, which is a humble adoration of the insight of the self…
